MID-YEAR MARITIME SECURITY REPORT

The level of container traffic in the Latin America and Caribbean regions has steadily increased over recent years, and issues of political instability, economic uncertainty, social unrest, and vast transnational criminal networks continue to pose a threat to all types of maritime traffic in the region, from cargo ships to cruise ships.

The first half of 2019 has seen a number of incidents, some quite high profile, that have impacted both onshore and offshore industries.

Intelligence Fusion closely monitors maritime security in Latin America and the Caribbean. So far in 2019, we've mapped over 1,100 maritime incidents worldwide. 489 of these incidents were located in the LATAM region. 

Our analysis of these incidents allows us to identify where the greatest threats are present as well as determine what constitutes a threat in each of those areas.
